Czech Girls' Choir Jitro
Jitro, meaning "Daybreak" in Czech, is more than just a concert choir from Hradec Králové, a town in the Czech Republic. It is an organization of 350 children in six preparatory ensembles the best thirty of which qualify to tours.
Prof. Jiří Skopal, Ph.D. has been an art director and conductor of the Czech Girls' Choir Jitro since 1977. Choir is accompanied by Michal Chrobák, a pianist.
For 38 years the choir has been admired all over the world for their tonal
brilliance, superb intonation, distinctive rich blend of sound and spirited vitality. Nowadays Jitro is considered as one of the best children's choirs in the world. 29 gold awards have been presented to the choir by various international juries (Llangollen 1988, Nantes 1989, Neerpelt 1996, Olomouc 1998 and 2003, Lecco 2010 and Xiamen 2006, …).
Jitro Choir performs over 100 times a year and so far has sung with other renowned choruses, including the American Boys' Choir, in prestigious concert halls in Prague, Barcelona,
Berlin, Strasbourg, Washington, New York City, Boston, Chicago, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Xiamen, and many others.
The Jitro Choir's repertoire is available on 30 CDs recorded by BMA, Classico, Amabile and others. In 2012 Jitro is realising its 12th concert tour about the USA and other four tours about Europe.
